Sims Volunteer Fire Department has scheduled a controlled burn Monday, July 20, starting at 6 PM. The house located at 6212 US Hwy 264 Alt W is scheduled for demolition, and the owner has allowed SVFD to conduct a controlled burn for training purposes. The State approved the burn after a clean Asbestos Survey Report. Sims will be joined by Rock Ridge, Contentnea, Bailey and Silverlake Fire Departments for this training exercise. The emphasis will be on how a fire burns and less about putting the fire out.

During this time should you notice a decrease in water pressure or discolored water, please do not be alarmed, it will be very brief. If you are concerned about any discoloration, allow your cold water to run for 5-15 minutes until it is clear again.
